Community Summer Camps

The following Educational and Skill-building summer camps and activities for children from four years old through seventeen, are sponsored by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department. sunny days summer camp in the woodlandsSunny Dayz Camp - Kids ages 5 to 12 will have an outrageous, crazy, wild, insane summer at Sunny Dayz Camp 2017! Adventures each week, including crafts, swimming and field trips!! Campers will be separated into two age groups: Explorers: ages 5 - 8 (must have turned 5 by September 1, 2016) and Adventurers: ages 9 - 12. Campers should wear light weight, comfortable clothes and tennis shoes (Croc type shoes are not recommended). Campers go on field trips in The Woodlands area each week! Parents need to sign a field trip permission form for each trip. Keep in mind that camp is all day, so pack a lunch and/or snacks! Sunny Dayz Camp utilizes check-in and check-out software! After registering, use the link on the receipt to register the camper in KidCheck. All campers must have a KidCheck profile set up by the first day of camp.

Sunny Dayz Camp runs 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, daily. FEES: Weekly: $200 per child, per week, Daily: $50 per child, 3-day per week option: $125 per child. Spots will not be saved without payment. All campers must pre-register and have a KidCheck profile set up by the first day of camp. Camper Information Forms can be picked up at The Woodlands Township Recreation Center. Daily drop-ins are welcome as space permits. Campers must be escorted into the facility and signed in at arrival, and signed out at departure each day. All parents and guardians picking up campers must show a valid ID and be listed on the "Approved Pick Up List" for their camper. Parents and guardians must follow the camper drop off and pick up directions and provide accurate and current Approved Pick Up List information. Camp staff will escort children to camp check-out area for parent/guardian pick-up.

Sunny Dayz Camp - Counselor-in-Training - Does your 13 - 15 year old have a keen sense of responsibility and love being in charge? Counselors-in-Training (CITs) attend Sunny Dayz Camp Monday - Friday, from 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Training includes five Counselor-in-Training camp shirts, CPR/First Aid training, weekly planning, field trip prep, safety, arts and crafts assistance, activity prep and much more! Following payment and registration, participants must download and complete the Counselor-in-Training Application. Additionally, applicants and their parents must attend a mandatory Counselor-in-Training informational session prior to their first day of camp. Informational sessions will be held: Tuesday, May 30 at 7:00 PM, Saturday, June 3 at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 28 at 7:00 PM, and Wednesday, July 26 at 7:00 PM. Space is limited, please sign up early! FEE: $100 per student, per week.

multicultural camps in the woodlandsTour-A-Culture
I Am Multicultural - Students ages 5 - 13 will learn about our diverse world in ways that have never been more FUN! The curriculum includes STEM and language activities. Kids build 2D and 3D puzzles of countries and known landmarks; eat and make tasty snacks; design and make traditional, modern homes and clothing; play musical instruments; perform dances; and play known ethnic field and board games. Kids also learn manners while meeting, eating and speaking native languages. Held June 5 - 9 from 9:00 AM - noon for ages 5 - 7, and from 1:00 - 4:00 PM for ages 8 - 13 at the Recreation Center at Bear Branch; fee: $210 per child for residents; $220 for non-residents.

HouseStories
Jr. Architect Studio: Spatial Logic - Students ages 7 - 11 can join HouseStories Jr. Architect Studio and put their spatial thinking skills to the test! Over the week, they will complete five house projects that amplify their spatial logic. Participants will explore classic design challenges undertaken by history's most famous builders, which are specifically tailored for elementary-aged children. Content will include designing, building and drawing each day. All materials included. Held June 12 - 16, from 9:00 AM - noon at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming; fee: $265 per child for residents; $275 for non-residents.

 

Jr. Architect Studio: Environmental Challenge - Students ages 7 - 11 can join HouseStories Jr. Architect Studio to build five projects that create awareness and connection with the local climate/environment. From vertical garden houses to floating houses to desert houses, they will explore innovative construction concepts that are tailored to specific environmental conditions. Content will include designing, building and drawing each day. All materials included. Held June 12 - 16, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming; fee: $265 per child for residents; $275 for non-residents.

 

Jr. Architect Studio: Full Day - Sign up for both Spatial Logic and Environmental Challenge for a full day of architecture fun. Fee: $495 per child for residents; $505 for non-residents.

Kid's Sports Nutrition - Nutrition for before, during and after physical activity. This camp teaches the type of foods needed for kids to have healthy energy and hydration to keep them in the game. Also part of the camp is a round or two of competitive activities mixed with food they cook. Campers enjoy a field trip to a local sports team to see how the big leagues eat and play. Welcome packet with camp details will be emailed after registration. This camp can accommodate nut allergies. Available June 19 - 23, from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, for ages 7-13 at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming; fee: $495 per child for residents, $505 for non-residents.

 

Whole Healthy Kids! - Cooking, creativity and fun physical activity are the foundations to being healthy. Whole Healthy Kids week offers campers the opportunity to experience how cooking, creativity and physical activity play a fun role in healthy living, while setting them up for success in life. No electronic babysitters in this program! Welcome packet with camp details will be emailed after registration. The camp can accommodate nut allergies. Available July 17 - 21, from 9:00 AM - Noon, for ages 7-9 or 2:00 - 5:00 PM for ages 10 - 13 at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming; fee: $280 per child for residents; $290 for non-residents.

Youth Beginner Sewing Camp
With Vicky Champion - Learn the basics from how to thread and use a sewing machine, the ins and outs of patterns and much more! Students (ages 10 - 15) will get to pin, sew seams, learn how to hem, sew casings for elastic and make pajama shorts! Fabric and patterns provided. Student must bring a portable sewing machine. Limited sewing machines available to borrow. Ages 10 - 12 held 9:30 AM - noon; ages 13 - 15 held from 1:00 - 3:30 PM; both camps at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming, Monday - Thursday only, June 26 - 29. FEE: $120 per child for residents, $130 for non-residents.

Pre-K/Lego Engineering I - Instructors use Lego Duplo and K’NEX to build math and science skills. Using building kits with gears, levers and pulleys, campers (ages 3 - 5) build simple machines that work. Projects build fine motor skills, sequential thinking skills, problem solving skills and confidence. Project include: cars, tops, merry go rounds, drills, mixers, cranes, conveyor, belts, and more. Available June 5 - 9, July 5 - 7*, or August 7 - 11 at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming; 9:00 AM - Noon each week. Fee: $275 per child for residents, $285 for non-residents, per week. *Note: July 5 - 7 is Wed - Fri only - fees: $165/175 respectively.

 

Elementary Lego Engineering II - Campers (ages 6 - 12) learn to build simple machines using gears, levers and pulleys and then motorize these machines using LEGO and K’NEX educational kits and curriculum while building math and science skills. Each day they will build several new simple machines and conduct experiments to see how well they perform. Written engineering curriculum reinforces the classroom curriculum with hands-on education. Students will understand why a machine works and will learn how to manipulate a machine to go faster or slower. Fine motor skills, critical thinking skills; imagination and confidence will increase in this fun-filled class. Available June 5 - 9, July 5 - 7*, or August 7 - 11 at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming; 1:00 - 4:00 PM each week. Fee: $275 per child for residents, $285 for non-residents, per week. *Note: July 5 - 7 is Wed - Fri only - fees: $165/175 respectively.

 

Lego Engineering III - Intro to Robotics - Kids ages 6 - 12 will expand on their engineering skills learned in LEGO II by building simple machines and then learning basic programming. This class will teach beginning programming principals, which lead to robotics. Each simple machine we build will be programmed to perform a function. Each class is progressive and builds on the other. Available June 5 - 9, July 5 - 7*, or August 7 - 11 at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming; Select 1:00 - 4:00 PM each week for half days; or (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM for full day. Fees: $395 per child for half day, $450 for full day, per week. *Note: July 5 - 7 is Wed - Fri only - fees: $235/270 respectively. Non-residents add $10 to each fee.

Fast Forward Kids
At Lego Mania, no builder can say "Lego my Lego!" when engaged in the creative activities of LEGO MANIA! "Zillions" of pieces ensure that there are always enough Legos for everyone! This innovative program for Lego buffs ages 4 - 7 provides opportunities for imagination and hands-on learning under the guidance of a certified educator. Over 15 new games, projects, and activities not found in stores, will be planned and engineered. Enrichment in the areas of personal creativity, following instructions, eye-hand coordination, problem solving, critical thinking and learning will be experienced as your child has the opportunity to construct dinosaurs, rockets, castles, airplanes, forts, cars and much more. Available 9:00 - 11:00 AM.

 

lego mania day campLego Logo is designed for older kids, ages 8 - 12. Lego Logo will develop your child into a little technician! Hands-on construction is learned and executed with our special and unique Lego Logo kits not found in stores. With certified educators and detailed technical plans; your child will learn how to build robots, race cars, four-by-four trucks, cranes, pulleys, levers and much more. Your child will participate in an energized week of discovery, motivated by creativity, fun and success. The young builder will expand his/her knowledge in math, science and technology in an exploratory cooperative environment. Available 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

 

Lego Logo, and Lego Mania will both be held at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming, July 10 - 14; fee: $130 per child for residents; $140 for non-residents.

 

survival skills day campUltimate Survival Camp - Wrapped in games and adventure, unique challenges await your child ages 8 - 12. During survival situations, the four basic needs become shelter, water, fire and food. By introducing basic techniques, your child will learn how to purify water, leave no trace camping, signal for help, wilderness navigation, search for edible food, first aid, set up shelter and even learn Army chants! Your child will enjoy this education, fun and exciting outdoor camp. Wrapped in games and adventure, unique challenges await your child. The team survival games will keep the training light and fun! This class is essential for kids who like to work and play outside. Held July 10 - 14, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming; fee: $130 per child for residents; $140 for non-residents.

Jedi Engineering Using Legos - The force awakens in this introductory engineering course for young Jedi! Campers ages 5 - 7 will explore engineering principles by designing and building projects such as Lego X-Wings, R2 units, energy catapults, defense turrets and settlements from a galaxy far, far away. Create motorized and architectural projects with imagination and engineering to defeat the Empire! Held 9:00 AM - noon at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming June 26 - 30. FEE: $175 per child for residents, $185 for non-residents.

 

Jedi Master Engineering Using Legos - The force awakens in the advanced engineering course for your Jedi! Campers ages 7 - 12 will discover key engineering concepts such as gear trains, worm drives, pneumatics, and eccentric motion. Build LEGO X-Wings, AT-AT walkers, pod racers, star destroyers, cloud cities, settlements, fortresses and other complex machines and structures from a galaxy far, far away. Held 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming June 26 - 30. FEE: $175 per child for residents, $185 for non-residents.
