Community Summer Camps

The following Educational and Skill-building summer camps and activities are sponsored by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department. For information about Parks & Recreation's Sports Camps, click on over to the next page. Fees for Summer Camps sponsored by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department are payable online at their registration page, except where instructed differently. For more information, call Parks and Recreation at 281-210-3900. Unless noted otherwise, all Township summer camps are held at the Recreation Center, which is adjacent to Bear Branch Park.

sunny days summer camp in the woodlandsThe Sunny Dayz Camp - Kids ages 6 to 12 can take a fun filled trip across the world! Campers will get their "passport" stamped on adventures each week, including crafts, swimming and field trips!! Campers will be separated into two age groups: Explorers: ages 6 - 8 (must have completed kindergarten) and Adventurers: ages 9 - 12.

Pre-Camp is from 7:30 - 8:30 AM, Camp runs 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM and Post Camp is from 3:30 - 5:30 PM. FEES: Weekly: $150 per child, per week. Pre-Camp: $20/wk Post-Camp: $40/wk Three days a week w/o Pre- and Post Camp: $100/wk, Daily: $40. Discounts are available: $200 - all 12 weeks, $100 - 6-11 weeks, $50 - 3-5 weeks, and $15/wk additional sibling discount. Spots will not be saved without payment. Daily drop-ins are welcome as space permits. Keep in mind that camp is all day, so pack a lunch and/or snacks!

Sunny Dayz Camp - Counselor-in-Training - Does your 13 - 15 year old have a keen sense of responsibility and love being in charge? Counselors-in-Training must commit to attend a minimum of four weeks of a six-week session. Training includes five Counselor-in-Training camp shirts, CPR / first aid training, field trips, special activities and a counselor-in-training leadership program with weekly skills and values! Space is limited, so sign up early! Orientation will be held May 31 from 5:30 - 8:30 PM, then choose either Session 1 from June 4 - July 13 or Session 2 from July 16 - August 24. Classes held Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM. FEE: $600 per student, per session.

spanish summer camp in the woodlandsSpanish Adventure Camp allows students ages 5 - 8 the chance to live the language and culture through traditional games, Latin dance, Spanish-influenced art, as well as conversationally based language instruction. Each week of camp is independent from the other. Camp is held Monday - Friday, choose to attend half-days (9:00 AM - Noon) July 9 - 13, or full-days (until 3:00 PM) June 4 - 8, August 13 - 17 and August 20 - 24. FEE: $285 per camper, per week for full days; $150 per camper for half-days; $25 registration fee per camper.

ikids and little ikids campLittle iKids Camp, for ages 3 - 7, and Big iKids Camp, for ages 7 - 12, allows adventurers to explore technology through creative activities, educational enrichment and recreation time. Small camp size with excellent camper-to-staff ratios! Bring a snack and drink each day. Little iKids is from 9:00 AM until Noon, and Big iKids is from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM each day. FEES: $165 per week, per camper. ¹ iKids camps held are held at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, Building II.² iKids camps are held at the Recreation Center. Programs will be as follows:

  • Week One - June 11 - 14 ¹
    For the Little iKids: Hula over to LEGO Island for an aquabot adventure! Have fun building robotic sea animals, water vehicles and more! Take a sunset stroll on the boardwalk and build machines like Ferris wheels and other exciting rides. Also enjoy sand castles, water activities, beach ball and pretend surfboarding.
    For the Big iKids: Learn about the marvels of digital concepts in photography and animation with some favorite comic characters! Create a comic strip and short animated film with a variety of digital media applications, such as Stop Motion and Photoshop.
  • Week Two - June 25 - 28 ¹
    For the Little iKids: Travel backwards and forwards through time exploring LEGO robotics! From prehistoric jungles to medieval times to the old west, and then on to the future! Enjoy building simple mechanisms and robotics to learn about each time period, including animals, ships, canons and rockets!
    For the Big iKids: Travel through time and space on a fascinating journey to a mysterious land filled with animal encounters and mythical beings! Experiment with LEGO robotics by building dinosaurs, creatures, humanoids and time machines. Explore scientific discoveries, teamwork, problem-solving and basic computer programming.
  • Week Three - July 9 - 12 ²
    For the Little iKids: Tour the world on an international expedition exploring LEGO robotics! From soccer-bots of Brazil to wild animal-bots of South Africa. Have fun building castles in Europe, igloos in Alaska and more. This LEGO trip is complete with creative souvenirs, cultural experiences, geography activities and a digital photo book to remember this exciting trek around the globe!
    For the Big iKids: Continue the adventure or start out on your own in the Land of Lost Bots, the mysterious land filled with animal encounters and mythical beings! Experiment with LEGO robotics by building dinosaurs, creatures, humanoids and time machines. Explore scientific discoveries, teamwork, problem-solving and basic computer programming.
  • Week Four - July 16 - 19 ¹
    For the Little iKids: Travel on an all-American road trip and explore some of America’s favorite things, such as vehicles, sports and space! Children will build simple machines, learn basic robotics and participate in geography and map-related activities. Includes LEGO-themed projects, technology discovery and creative play.
    For the Big iKids: Produce your own exciting Night at the Museum, animating real-life and historic characters, animals and action figures. Have fun learning about history and digital concepts in photography and movie creation. Utilize a variety of digital media applications, such as Photoshop and Movie Maker, to create your own piece of history with your Night at the Museum mystery!
  • Week Five - July 23 - 26 ²
    For the Little iKids: Become a super sleuth and put clues together to learn basic computer, keyboarding skills and more. Go undercover to discover technology secrets with mystery-themed activities, creative and investigative projects, spy missions, and a visit from the ultimate secret agent himself, Scooby Doo!
    For the Big iKids: Hold on tight, this WWW ride goes fast from digital arts to web design! Covers the process from planning to production: brainstorming, creating, and executing the process of digital design. It's a thrill learning how to design web pages, including manipulating pictures, images and text! Exhilarate your brain on this wild "web" ride from creative arts and photography to critical-thinking and computer skills!
  • Week Six - July 30 - August 2 ¹
    For the Little iKids: Go on a grand adventure to the land of fairy tale dreams and mystical creatures exploring LEGO robotics! Children document their adventure by creating their very own digital storybook constructing robot characters, adding music and narrating with their own voice. Includes fairy tale riddles, scavenger hunts and storybook adventures.
    For the Big iKids: Explore alternative energy sources utilizing real-life models of LEGO robotics. Build machines with solar panels, turbine blades, generators, LED lights, sensors and more to learn about energy concepts. Have fun in an educational game environment with a series of "green" challenges, such as creating and powering up vehicles and a model city. Technology, engineering, design, and problem-solving skills!

building brains lego day campBuilding Brains Lego® Engineering I for kids ages 3 - 5 will be held for two, one-week sessions from 9:00 AM - Noon, June 18 - 22 and July 16 - 20 ¹. Campers will build simple machines that really work using gears, levers and pulleys. Class themes include "Pirates That Don't Do Anything", the "Very Hungry Caterpillar," "Robot Rally," and "It’s a Bug’s Life." FEE: $225 per camper.

Building Brains Lego® Engineering II for kids ages 6 - 12 will be held August 6 - 10, in either half or full day sessions from 9:00 AM - Noon, 1:00 - 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Campers learn to build simple machines using gears, levers and pulleys and then motorized these machines using Lego® and K’nex® educational kits. This camp builds math and science skills. Class also includes challenges to compete against one another to build the best design. FEES: $225 per camper for half-days, $365 for full-days.

¹ Building Brains Lego® I and II will be held at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, Building II, except for July 16 - 20 which will be held at the Rec Center.

woodlands acting and drama campActing and Drama Camp - Budding thespians ages 6 - 13½ can be part of a mini-play taught in five days with a production at the end. Children will experience voice projection, public speaking, memorization, self-confidence, character study, discipline and fun! Class instructor is 30-year professional Caroline Batson. Camp held from 1:00 - 2:30 PM, June 18 - 22 at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, Building II. Please send bottled water with each child. FEE: $125 per child.

glee kids day campCaroline Batson will also instruct the Musical Theatre Camp is tailor-made for Glee™ fans ages 6 - 13! This camp is perfect for the young person who loves singing and dancing to their favorite teen musicals. Musical Theatre Camp will be held July 9 - 13, from 1:00 - 2:30 PM at the Bear Branch Recreation Center. Please send bottled water with each child. FEE: $125 per child.

Lessons On The Go: Music Camp - Campers ages 8 - 12 will be divided into "bands" and will get to create a band name and learn a song to perform on the last day of camp for families and friends. The remainder of the time will be spent learning how to play instruments as well as the band's song. Instruments include guitar, bass, drums, piano and voice. Camp held at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, Building II. Choose from two sessions held from 3:00 - 6:00 PM daily; June 18 - 22 or August 13 - 17. FEE: $350 per child, per week; includes a camp T-shirt.

Art Smart and Art Camp: Inspire an Imaginative Mind! Campers ages 3 - 12 will cultivate creativity for artists of any skill level. The first week, held June 25 - 29, will be themed Inspired Images: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Collage. The second week, held July 16 - 20, will be themed Simple to Sophisticated Sculpture: Clay, Wire and Assemblage. Each of these week-long art classes will cover a range of different materials, themes and techniques.

Art Smart for ages 3 - 5 is from 10:00 - 11:15 AM and Art Camp for ages 6 - 12 is from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, at the Recreation Center. Camp fees include all supplies; FEES: $125 per camper, per week.

Lessons On The Go: Chess Camp - Campers ages 8 - 12 will be joined by the two top ranked chess instructors at Lessons on the Go for this brand new camp! Kids will learn the strategy and tactics in the game of chess, and each class will include instruction and games. Instructors will introduce a new concept everyday. Camp held at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, Building II. Choose from two sessions held from 3:00 - 6:00 PM daily; July 2 - 6 (not on July 4) or August 20 - 24. FEE: $230 per child, per week; includes a camp T-shirt.

summercamp for girls in the woodlandsCamp Barbie This one-week camp, held from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, Building II is designed to let your child (ages 4 - 8) have loads of fun helping Barbie learn the many things she needs to know to become a great girl, including learning to dress for the occasion, practicing good manners, making new friends, the importance of school work, dreaming of careers, practicing talents and more! Camp Barbie will be held July 9 - 13. FEE: $125 per child.

fashion show production campCalling all future Project Runway contestants! Future fashionistas ages 8 - 12 will graduate from playing dress up to designing their own fashions. Design principles in the areas of sketching, color and pattern coordination and cultural fashion history will be applied to their individual style. Girls will be grouped into design teams for a variety of fun, engaging activities, such as White Wedding, Fashion Showdown and much more! No sewing involved. Camp will be held July 9 - 13 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, Building II. FEE: $125 per camper.

Jumpstart Kindergarten Day Camp is a fast-paced, fun-filled, activity-packed day camp for kids ages 4 - 6, directly related to the act of reading. Campers will develop self esteem, confidence and motivation to move forward in the reading experience. Story Time enhances auditory and comprehension skills. Interactive Reading Time addresses visual discrimination through the introduction of small, controlled vocabulary, and Game Time provides kinesthetic activity while enhancing visual and auditory skills. Camp will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, July 9 - 13 at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, Building II. FEE: $125 per child.

lego mania day camp

Lego Mania for kids ages 4 - 7 is an innovative program for Lego® buffs providing opportunities for imagination and hands-on learning under the guidance of a certified educator. Zillions of pieces ensure there is always enough for everyone! Lego Mania sessions are from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM, or 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Lego Mania and Lego Logo are both held at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, Building II. FEE: $125 per child.

lego logo day campLego Logo is designed for older kids, ages 8 - 12. Lego Logo brings young technicians into the creative high tech engineering environment of the computer age. The special Lego® Logo kits, not found in stores and equipped with computer hook-ups, provide opportunities for hands-on construction of computer-programmed projects along with technical programs. Lego Logo sessions are held between Lego Mania sessions, from 9:00 - 11:00 AM.
