The following Educational and Skill-building summer camps and activities for children from four years old through seventeen, are sponsored by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department. Fees for Summer Camps sponsored by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department are payable online at their registration page, except where instructed differently. For more information, call Parks and Recreation at 281 210-3950. Unless noted otherwise, all Township summer camps are held at the Recreation Center, which is adjacent to Bear Branch Park.

sunny days summer camp in the woodlandsSunny Dayz Camp - Kids ages 5 to 12 will have an outrageous, crazy, wild, insane summer at Sunny Dayz Camp 2016! Adventures each week, including crafts, swimming and field trips!! Campers will be separated into two age groups: Explorers: ages 5 - 8 (must have turned 5 by September 1, 2015) and Adventurers: ages 9 - 12. Campers should wear light weight, comfortable clothes and tennis shoes (Croc type shoes are not recommended). Campers go on field trips in The Woodlands area each week! Parents need to sign a field trip permission form for each trip. Keep in mind that camp is all day, so pack a lunch and/or snacks! Sunny Dayz Camp utilizes check-in and check-out software! After registering, use the link on the receipt to register the camper in KidCheck. All campers must have a KidCheck profile set up by the first day of camp.

Sunny Dayz Camp runs 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, daily. FEES: Weekly: $200 per child, per week, Daily: $50 per child, 3-day per week option: $125 per child. Spots will not be saved without payment. All campers must pre-register and have a KidCheck profile set up by the first day of camp. Camper Information Forms can be picked up at The Woodlands Township Recreation Center. Daily drop-ins are welcome as space permits. Campers must be escorted into the facility and signed in at arrival, and signed out at departure each day. All parents and guardians picking up campers must show a valid ID and be listed on the "Approved Pick Up List" for their camper. Parents and guardians must follow the camper drop off and pick up directions and provide accurate and current Approved Pick Up List information. Camp staff will escort children to camp check-out area for parent/guardian pick-up.

Sunny Dayz Camp - Counselor-in-Training - Does your 13 - 15 year old have a keen sense of responsibility and love being in charge? Counselors-in-Training (CITs) attend Sunny Dayz Camp Monday - Friday, from 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Training includes five Counselor-in-Training camp shirts, CPR/First Aid training, weekly planning, field trip prep, safety, arts and crafts assistance, activity prep and much more! Following payment and registration, participants must download and complete the Counselor-in-Training Application. All applicants must schedule a meeting with the Counselor-in-Training Director to review expectations and program content before camp start date. Space is limited, please sign up early! FEE: $100 per student, per week; registration for weeks 1 - 4 opens May 30, weeks 5 - 8 opens June 27, and weeks 9 - 11 opens July 25.

Tasty Travels - Campers will stir, whisk and roll their way through China, Mexico, the Middle East and Italy; experiencing global cuisines and culture while creating fun memories! This camp can accommodate nut allergies. Available June 20 - 23, from 9:00 AM - Noon, for ages 7-9 and 2:00 - 5:00 PM for ages 10-13 Monday - Thursday only at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room; fee: $220 per child.

 

Book Cooks! - Make books come alive with book talks and cooking up recipes from the stories. This fun class puts reading on a whole new level and will help even the most reluctant reader enjoy reading! A welcome packet is emailed after registration. Viva La France! - Campers eat their way through France. Butter, cheese, milk, eggs and bread will lead the way. Bon Appetite! Welcome packet with camp details will be emailed after registration. Space is limited and camps fill quickly. This camp can accommodate nut allergies. Available August 1 - 4, from 2:00 - 5:00 PM, for ages 10-13 Monday - Thursday only at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room; fee: $220 per child.

Pre-K/Lego Engineering I - Instructors use Lego Duplo and K’NEX to build math and science skills. Using building kits with gears, levers and pulleys, campers (ages 3 - 5) build simple machines that work. Projects build fine motor skills, sequential thinking skills, problem solving skills and confidence. Project include: cars, tops, merry go rounds, drills, mixers, cranes, conveyor, belts, and more. Available June 27 - July 1, or July 11 - 15 at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room; 9:00 AM - Noon either week. Fee: $245 per child, per week.

 

Elementary Lego Engineering II - Campers (ages 6 - 12) learn to build simple machines using gears, levers and pulleys and then motorize these machines using LEGO and K’NEX educational kits and curriculum while building math and science skills. Each day they will build several new simple machines and conduct experiments to see how well they perform. Written engineering curriculum reinforces the classroom curriculum with hands-on education. Students will understand why a machine works and will learn how to manipulate a machine to go faster or slower. Fine motor skills, critical thinking skills; imagination and confidence will increase in this fun-filled class. Available June 27 - July 1, July 11 - 15,, or July 25 - 29. Choose from 9:00 AM - Noon, or 1:00 - 4:00 PM for $265 per child, per week, or all day (9:00 - 4:00) for $395 per child, per week. All sessions held at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room.

 

Lego Engineering III - Intro to Robotics - Kids ages 6 - 12 will expand on their engineering skills learned in LEGO II by building simple machines and then learning basic programming. This class will teach beginning programming principals, which lead to robotics. Each simple machine we build will be programmed to perform a function. Each class is progressive and builds on the other. Available July 25 - 29. Choose from 9:00 AM - Noon, or 1:00 - 4:00 PM for $265 per child, per week, or all day (9:00 - 4:00) for $395 per child. All sessions held at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room.

 

City Art Works
Deep In The Art Of Texas - Texas is very inspiring! A lot of well-known artists hail from Texas, so this is your child's chance to get to know them better. Campers ages 5 - 12 will be inspired by artists and works who derive from the Lone Star State. This camp will explore different two-dimensional mediums such as collage, drawing, painting, and printmaking with a different Texans-inspired art project each day. Held 1:00 - 3:00 PM, June 27 - July 1, at the Recreation Center; fee: $225 per child.

 

Fast Forward Kids
Lego Logo is designed for older kids, ages 8 - 12. Lego Logo will develop your child into a little technician! Hands-on construction is learned and executed with our special and unique Lego Logo kits not found in stores. With certified educator and detailed technical plans; your child will learn how to build robots, racecars, four-by-four trucks, cranes, pulleys, levers and much more. Available 9:00 - 11:00 AM.

lego mania day campLego Expert - Does your child think they have done it all with Legos? Let Lego Expert teach them otherwise! These activity-based projects will incorporate physical science and mathematics into one. Instructors will facilitate, but students will do the creating! Give creations the most torque and battle in the robotic tournaments! Real-world team building activities will enhance their engineering skill sets. Racing against the clock with healthy competition will determine the best Lego expert around! Lego Expert is designed for older kids, ages 8 - 12. Available 9:00 - 11:00 AM.

At Lego Mania, no builder can say "Lego my Lego!" when engaged in the creative activities of LEGO MANIA! "Zillions" of pieces ensure that there are always enough Legos for everyone! This innovative program for Lego buffs ages 4 - 7 provides opportunities for imagination and hands-on learning under the guidance of a certified educator. Over 15 new games, projects, and activities not found in stores, will be planned and engineered. Enrichment in the areas of personal creativity, following instructions, eye-hand coordination, problem solving, critical thinking and learning will be experienced as your child has the opportunity to construct dinosaurs, rockets, castles, airplanes, forts, cars and much more. Available 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

Lego Designer for kids ages 4 - 7 can exercise their Lego skills in ways they haven't before! This unique collection of Lego kits inspires and captivates young minds. Careful guidance from a certified educator will allow students to flourish with ideas and overcome any obstacles that may be presented to them. Individual and team projects will provide opportunities for your child to expand their creativity and social skills, as they work toward their common goals. Available 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

Lego Logo, Lego Expert, Lego Designer, and Lego Mania will all be held at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room, July 18 - 22. Fees: $125 per child.

 

survival skills day campSurvival Tactics Camp - Wrapped in games and adventure, unique challenges await your child ages 8 - 12. During survival situations, the four basic needs become shelter, water, fire and food. By introducing basic techniques, your child will learn how to purify water, signal for help, search for edible food, set up shelter and even learn some survival chants! Held July 18 - 22, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room; Fee: $125 per child.

 

Hot Wheels & Play-Doh World of Discovery - Young boys and girls ages 5 - 7 will learn, create and have fun while doing it! Creativity will be used like never before. There will be scientific creations of things past, present and future. Explore dinosaurs, prehistoric volcanoes, animals, food, transportation and our solar system. Artistic and social development will be engaged in daily creations. Add numerous Play-Doh sets and find a new excitement in science! Endless tracks and obstacle courses await every Hot Wheels' car lover as they discover the world of physical science. Measuring length and weight in various units will help in the identification of the fastest, most efficient car on the block. Held 9:00 - 11:00 AM, July 18 - 22, at the Recreation Center; Fee: $125 per child.

 

Discovery Kids
Calling All Muggles! - Training begins by dividing students into "houses" with the sorting hat. Students ages 5 - 12 will make dragon drool, experiment with "potions," engage in duels, make wands, play Quidditch and make Butterbeer and chocolate frogs. Held August 8 - 11 (Monday - Thursday only), from 9:00 AM - noon at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room; Fee: $120 per child.

 

HouseStories
Maker Studio: Architecture - Join HouseStories to learn about construction and more! Students ages 7 - 11 will build scale models of simple houses from around the world to see how shape, material, structure, geography and climate are related. Developed by a professional architect, HouseStories is a hands-on way for kids to understand, visualize and create their own environment! Held August 8 - 12, from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room; Fee: $220 per child.

 

Engineering For Kids
Intro to WeDo© Robotics - For younger campers (ages 5 - 7), this program introduces campers to robot design and programming utilizing basic machine principles to create robots capable of performing simple tasks. Junior Engineers will master the science behind building structures out of lego and using computer software to CODE the robot movements! Held August 15 - 19, from 9:00 AM - noon at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room; Fee: $250 per child.

 

Minecraft® Travel Into The Future - Using the engineering design process, campers ages 8 - 11 explore an apocalyptic future, one where the earth has been ravaged by a series of natural disasters. Each day, students rely on the engineering design process to solve a series of challenges such as building a city on a series of islands, escaping from a bunker on Mt. Everest, and even building a rocket to land on the moon! Through the applications of engineering principles, students solve numerous challenges as they make their virtual world of Minecraft a safe place for humanity once again. Held August 15 - 19, from noon - 4:00 PM at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room; Fee: $250 per child.
