The following Educational and Skill-building summer camps and activities for children from four years old through seventeen, are sponsored by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department. Many of these camps are being held for longer sessions than those on the . For information about Parks & Recreation's Sports & Athletics Camps, click on over to the next page. Fees for Summer Camps sponsored by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department are payable online at their registration page, except where instructed differently. For more information, call Parks and Recreation at 281 210-3950. Unless noted otherwise, all Township summer camps are held at the Recreation Center, which is adjacent to Bear Branch Park.

Jedi Engineering Using Legos - The force awakens in this introductory engineering course for young Jedi! Campers ages 5 - 7w will explore engineering principles by designing and building projects such as Lego X-Wings, R2 units, energy catapults, defense turrets and settlements from a galaxy far, far away. Create motorized and architectural projects with imagination and engineering to defeat the Empire! Held 9:00 AM - noon at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room June 13 - 17. FEE: $198 per child.

 

Jedi Master Engineering Using Legos - The force awakens in the advanced engineering course for your Jedi! Campers ages 7 - 12 will discover key engineering concepts such as gear trains, worm drives, pneumatics, and eccentric motion. Build LEGO X-Wings, AT-AT walkers, pod racers, star destroyers, cloud cities, settlements, fortresses and other complex machines and structures from a galaxy far, far away. Held 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Room June 13 - 17. FEE: $198 per child.

 

Pre-Engineering Using Lego - Let your child's imagination run wild with tens of thousands of Legos! Campers (ages 5 - 7) will build engineering-designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes, and motorized cars, and use special pieces to create their own unique design! Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO building system with the guidance of an experienced Play Well instructor. This is an ideal way to prepare young buildings for the challenge of Engineering FUNdamentals. Held July 11 - 15 from 9:00 AM - noon at the Recreation Center. FEE: $198 per child.

 

Bashem 'Bots Using Lego - Has your child ever wanted to learn how to make a massive motorized Lego machine? The Play Well Engineering instructors guide students (ages 7 - 12) in this advanced Play Well engineering camp, as they re-engineer standard Lego vehicles into mechanized machines that can traverse challenging obstacles, battle against fellow bots and take on Play Well instructors' colossal creations. Held July 11 - 15 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Recreation Center. FEE: $198 per child.

Languages Around The World - Students ages 6 - 12 will learn to identify the top eight languages from around the world. Common greetings, and phrases, language writings and grammar structures will be explored. Ethnic snack and T-shirt included. Held June 13 - 17 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Recreation Center; fee: $220 per child.

 

Slow Down in The Dominican Republic - Students ages 4 - 6 will learn a different concept of time in the Islands; there is always time. Different cultures meet together with unique blends of language, art, music, dance and festivals. Students discover the communities and its helpers and life centered around agriculture and tourism. Feature activity includes make a change, get involved volunteering opportunities. Ethnic snack and T-shirt included. Held June 13 - 17 from 9:00 AM - noon at the Recreation Center; fee: $220 per child.

Superhero Science - Campers ages 4 - 8 will become science superheroes this summer! Using science experiments to solve mysteries, explore engineering new inventions & electronics, and use robots to help uncover new clues. While saving the day, students create a digital comic book that goes home at the end of the week! Held 9:00 AM - Noon, June 20 - 23 (Monday - Thursday only), at the Recreation Center; FEE: $220 per child.

 

Science Movie Cinema - Campers ages 8 - 12 will recreate their favorite movies with science! Visit the set of their favorites like Science Wars, The Photons Attack, Charlie and the Science Factory and more! Create sets, learn film editing, use science for special effects, shoot off space rockets, and explore robotics, all while creating their very own science movies. Each camper receives a copy of their movie. Held 1:00 - 4:00 PM, June 20 - 23 (Monday - Thursday only), at the Recreation Center; FEE: $220 per child.

 

Silly Science Stories - Campers ages 4 - 8 will enjoy a week of the silliest stories and lots of fun! Solve a new computer case each day, explore robotic characters, cook up some kitchen chemistry and discover art and science experiments. Perfect for little ones with big imaginations, campers create their own unique digital story to take home! Held 9:00 AM - Noon, August 1 - 4 (Monday - Thursday only), at the Recreation Center; FEE: $220 per child.

 

Summer Science & Art Mysteries - Art and famous landmarks are missing from around the world! Campers ages 8 - 12 receive clues, videos from eye witnesses, examine crime scenes and search databases for the thieves responsible. While on the journey, campers record a digital journey of their adventure, participate in art activities from around the world, explore science experiments, electronics, robotics, and learn technology applications and solve the case. Held 1:00 - 4:00 PM, August 1 - 4 (Monday - Thursday only), at the Recreation Center; FEE: $220 per child.

Lego Tech Luau - Kids ages 3 - 7 will hula on over to Lego Island for an aquabot adventure! Have fun with Lego robotics building sea animals, water vehicles, and more; take a sunset stroll on the boardwalk and build machines like Ferris wheels and other exciting rides. Kids will enjoy this island adventure of making sand castles, water activities, beach ball play, pretend surfboarding, and best of all, a Lego Luau! Held 9:00 AM - Noon, July 5 - 7, (Monday - Thursday only) at the Recreation Center; FEE: $195 per child.

 

Digital Media Magic - Campers ages 7 - 12 will learn the tricks of digital media and have fun discovering concepts in photography and movie creation. They will explore the magic of animation, green screen technology, photo transformation and more! Utilize a variety of digital media applications, such as Photoshop and Movie Maker to create their own multimedia flick! Held 1:00 - 4:00 PM, July 5 - 7, (Monday - Thursday only) at the Recreation Center; FEE: $195 per child.

 

Around The Weebot World - Kids ages 3 - 7 will tour the world on an international expedition exploring Lego robotics! From soccer bots of Brazil to wild animal bots of South Africa; children will have fun building castles in Europe, igloos in Alaska, and more. Enjoy sightseeing and taking pictures of their travels too! This Lego trip is complete with creative souvenirs, cultural experiences, geography activities, and a digital photo book to remember this exciting trek around the globe! Held 9:00 AM - Noon, July 25 - 28, (Monday - Thursday only) at the Recreation Center; FEE: $195 per child.

 

Land of The Lost Bots - Campers ages 7 - 12 travel through time and space on a fascinating journey to a mysterious land filled with animal encounters and mythical beings! Experiment with Lego robotics using the latest technology building dinosaurs, creatures, humanoids, time machines and more. Have fun exploring scientific discoveries, teamwork, problem-solving and basic computer programming concepts. Held 1:00 - 4:00 PM, July 25 - 28, (Monday - Thursday only) at the Recreation Center; FEE: $195 per child.

Calling all future Project Runway contestants! Future fashionistas ages 8 - 12 will graduate from playing dress up to designing their own fashions at Fashion Designer Camp. They will express themselves with their own fashion sense following the same design principles used by professionals. This includes basic sketching techniques, coordination of colors for the best effect and mixing textures and patterns for perception and scale. Cultural fashion history will be applied to all the girl’s individual style and portfolio. Designs come to life with beautifully patterned fabric, ribbons, sequins, jewels and oodles of other embellishments. Collaborative "design team" challenges make this hands-on, minds-on adventure into the world of design very exciting. For young child's safety, no sewing is practiced in this class. Held 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM, July 18 - 22, at the Recreation Center; FEE: $125 per child.

 

summercamp for little girls in the woodlandsCamp Barbie - This one-week camp is designed to let your child (ages 4 - 8) have loads of fun helping Barbie learn the many things she needs to know to become a great girl. Children and Barbie will have a great time learning to dress for occasions appropriately, practice good manners, make new friends, the importance of school work, how to use money, planning for careers, attending social functions, hearing great stories, practicing talents, art and much more! Non-stop activities and fun learning adventures are all geared toward self-esteem development in this class. All materials are provided for this camp. Held 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM, July 18 - 22, at the Recreation Center; FEE: $125 per child.

 

Creative Project Expression - and - Look At Me! I'm An Author - Designed for campers ages 6 - 12, this class is about turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. By using visual and auditory skills through project-based expression, your child will reach all their creative inner abilities. By using various materials, your child will put together artwork, comic strips, scrapbooks and even fun fashion creations. But that's not all! Little authors will be in our midst. This class inspires a higher order thinking by learning how fun writing can be. Students will be able to show their unique expression through their own writing. By the end of the week, little authors will be thrilled to showcase all of their distinct and individual expressions. Held 2:00 - 4:00 PM, July 18 - 22, at the Recreation Center; FEE: $125 per child.
