General Information about Parks in The Woodlands |
Parking your vehicle at the various parks in The Woodlands:
Many of the "Neighborhood" parks are designed for more localized area use and therefore may have limited or no public parking areas, while others ("Area" and "Village" parks) have many parking spaces. Residents are encouraged to walk or bike to the parks by way of the numerous neighborhood pathways in order to lower our nation's carbon footprint. If you plan to drive to a park, please choose one with a public parking area and do not park on the grass. Parking on the grassy areas may damage the grass resulting in a potential fire hazard. If the park does not have any available parking spaces, you are encouraged you to choose another park that might have parking spaces which are readily available.
Help us keep parks safe and clean:
The Woodlands Parks and Recreation Department requests your help to maintain the beauty of The Woodlands area parks. Please report any vandalism, unsafe structures, or questionable behavior to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department at (281) 297-6500 or The Woodlands Parks and Recreation Department at (281) 210-3900. The many parks are built for everyone's enjoyment, with some of them being dog friendly; please clean up after yourself and your pet(s).
Common sense guidelines for safety:
For your personal safety, we recommend that when enjoying the parks and pathways, travel in pairs or groups and do not allow children to stay at parks unattended. Lock your bikes at a bike rack, place any valuables out of sight, and lock your car doors.
The Parks and Recreation Department of The Woodlands Township operates and maintains the hike and bike paths, 130 parks, 13 swimming pools, and more than 1,800 acres of open space for residents to enjoy (numbers of each are ever-increasing). The Community Associations of The Woodlands transitioned services and operations to The Woodlands Township effective January 1, 2010.
The Woodlands features more than 140 miles of 4’ wide concrete sidewalks or pathways that wind throughout the community. The hike and bike pathways are restricted to non-motorized vehicle use and are located throughout the Villages of The Woodlands. Residents and their guests can enjoy a variety of activities, such as walking, jogging, bicycling and roller-blading along the pathways which are conveniently linked throughout neighborhoods, parks, schools, and area shopping centers. The pathways also connect the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and the various free parking areas for the seasonal concerts and events held at the outdoor amphitheater.
