Entertainment in The Woodlands

In a world where we find ourselves ever more overwhelmed by—and drawn to—bright images and flashing screens, it is worth asking a few questions about that most important of consumer goods: entertainment. What makes entertainment entertaining? Why do we need it, or do we? So what is "entertainment"? The answer can vary depending on your own taste and desire but, we look to the definition of Entertainment from dictionary.com - for many people entertainment is anything that brings a smile to their face while for others it is something more elaborate and thought provoking.

1. the act of entertaining; agreeable occupation for the mind; diversion; amusement: Solving the daily crossword puzzle is an entertainment for many.

4. a divertingly adventurous, comic, or picaresque novel.

Entertainment can consist of any activity that provides a diversion or permits people to amuse themselves in their leisure time. Entertainment is generally passive, such as watching opera or a movie. Active forms of amusement, such as sports, are more often considered to be recreation yet, spectators of sporting events are generally entertained while watching them. Activities such as personal reading or practicing a musical instrument are normally considered to be hobbies but in some situations can also be entertaining.

Entertainment in The Woodlands can be found throughout the year in all sorts of venues including events such as dinner, drinks and a live band along the Waterway, the annual free concerts at Northshore park, one of the many festivals, concerts at the pavilion, movies at Cinemark, ice skating during the christmas holidays and much more. The Woodlands Events and Entertainment website aims to provide information for many if not all of the available entertainment options available in and around the community.

The Pavilion (CWMP) in The Woodlands

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is a non-profit organization providing a diversity in the performing and visual arts and Live Music Entertainment Choices in Houston over the past several years. The outdoor theater offers covered seating as well as a large grass covered hill for 'lawn seating'. The Pavilion was afforded a major upgrade between the 2008/2009 concert season thanks to Hurricane Ike. The upgrades to the outdoor amphitheater included replacing the entire soaring roof structure, improving guest amenities and installing additional reserved and covered seating.
