The Rowing Club of The Woodlands has called North Shore Park home since 1989. The Rowing Club hosts two major regattas each year, the Lake Woodlands Championships, and Slay The Dragon - an intense, 4000m race to The Midgard Serpent and back. Rowing is a sport in which athletes race against each other in watercraft called a racing shell or scull. The sport can be both recreational, focusing on learning the techniques required, and competitive where overall fitness plays a large role. It is also one of the oldest Olympic sports. In the United States, high school and collegiate rowing is sometimes referred to as crew. The Rowing Club of The Woodlands does its part to continue the tradition of rowing by hosting the Learn to Row program on Lake Woodlands each year from Spring to Fall. |
