Quite possibly the most recognized park in The Woodlands, Northshore Park has served the Township for over twenty years as a central gathering place for many of our largest community events. Northshore Park, located just west of Lake Front Circle on Lake Woodlands Drive, hosts the ever-popular, free Concert in The Park series on Sundays from late spring until early fall each year. As the largest of the parks on the shores of Lake Woodlands, North Shore Park also serves as the lauching point for the annual Dragon Boat Race and is a popular destination for sport fishing. Northshore Park features public picnic areas, a public ramp for non-motorized boats and a pavilion for live musical entertainment. Southshore Park includes an observation platform for views of the 200-acre Lake Woodlands, nearby Panther Creek and East Shore, not mention an up-close look at the Rise of Midgard Serpent (more commonly referred to as "the dragon") which was gifted by Cynthia Woods Mitchell (1922-2009) in celebration of the opening of the lake.

rowing club of the woodlands annual events

The Rowing Club of The Woodlands has called North Shore Park home since 1989. The Rowing Club hosts two major regattas each year, the Lake Woodlands Championships, and Slay The Dragon - an intense, 4000m race to The Midgard Serpent and back. Rowing is a sport in which athletes race against each other in watercraft called a racing shell or scull. The sport can be both recreational, focusing on learning the techniques required, and competitive where overall fitness plays a large role. It is also one of the oldest Olympic sports. In the United States, high school and collegiate rowing is sometimes referred to as crew. The Rowing Club of The Woodlands does its part to continue the tradition of rowing by hosting the Learn to Row program on Lake Woodlands each year from Spring to Fall.
