Annual 10 For Texas Run

The first annual 10 FOR TEXAS 10-mile race through The Woodlands took place in October, 2006 at Central Park in Market Street. Produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department and Luke’s Locker, the event aims for zero waste through sustainable efforts. After the race, participants enjoy a Texas-sized party at Market Street with a live band and fun for the whole family.

The 2011 Ten for Texas 10-mile race will be held Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Market Street. The race begins at 7:30 AM, immediately following the One 4 Texas Kids Fun Run at 7:00 AM. Online registration can be completed here or in person at The Woodlands Recreation Center, 5310 Research Forest Drive, adjacent to Bear Branch Park or at Luke's Locker in Market Street. Register before September 30, 2011, and pay $45. From October 1 - October 7, 2011, registration is $50. Race day registration is $55.

All pre- and post-race activities will take place at Market Street in Town Center. The 10 for Texas race event offers participants a USATF certified ten-mile course that winds through The Woodlands. All miles will be marked and all intersections staffed by contracted peace officers. Finish line clocks will display your unofficial time. If it is determined that a runner has left the prescribed race course, that runner shall be disqualified.

Fueling stations supplied with water and sports drinks will be located at the start / finish line as well as individual stations at along the course at miles one, two, four, six and eight. The station at mile 6 will also offer fruit. Staff from Memorial Hermann-Sports Medicine The Woodlands will be on duty at the finish line, a dedicated ambulance service will be staged near mile 4, and bike medics will also be stationed along the course.

Prizes are awarded in the following catagories: Top Male and Female Overall; Top Male and Female Masters (age 40 and over); Top three male and female participants in the following age groups: 14 years and younger, 15 - 19 years, 20 - 24 years, 25 - 29 years, 30 - 34 years, 35 - 39 years, 40 - 44 years, 45 - 49 years, 50 - 54 years, 55 - 59 years, 60 - 64 years, 65 -69 years, 70 years and up. Race day street closures are announced prior to the 10 For Texas race. Roads along the race route will have the outside lane closed to automobile traffic from 6:30 to 10:15 a.m. to accommodate runners in the 10 For Texas race. These roadways typically include:

* Six Pines Drive: southbound, Lake Woodlands Drive to Lake Robbins Drive
* Lake Robbins Drive: westbound, Six Pines Drive to Grogan's Mill Road
* Grogan’s Mill Road: southbound, Timberloch Place to Woodlands Parkway
* Woodlands Parkway: westbound, Grogan's Mill Road to Cochran's Crossing Drive
* Cochran’s Crossing Drive: northbound, Woodlands Parkway to Lake Woodlands Drive
* Lake Woodlands Drive, eastbound, Cochran's Crossing Drive to Six Pines Drive

Fourth Annual ONE 4 TEXAS Kids' Fun Run 2011

The ONE 4 TEXAS offers participants a fun run course around the confines of Market Street. One 4 Texas is a non-competitive event designed to promote fun and fitness for kid’s ages 5 - 12 of all abilities. All participants receive a finisher’s award upon crossing the finish line.

Register your child, ages 5 to 12, for the Third Annual One 4 Texas Kid's Fun Run here or in person at The Woodlands Recreation Center, 5310 Research Forest Drive before October 7, 2011 and pay $15. Race-day registration is $20. Race starts at 7:00 AM.
