GE Run Thru the Woods

The Annual GE Run Thru the Woods is held each year on Thanksgiving morning in Town Center, 2012 will mark the 23rd anniversary of this event. The GE Run Thru the Woods is an annual charity event designed for all ages and levels of fitness. Proceeds benefit the South Montgomery County YMCA Partners Program, Operation Graduation, Conroe ISD AFJROTC, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Education Outreach Program and Montgomery County Humane Society. In 2010, more than $140,000 was raised for local charities!

In conjunction with the Run Thru the Woods, there will be a canned food drive in collaboration with Can-N-Keys the Christian Food Bank. All runners/walkers are asked to bring canned goods on race day morning. There will be 5 collection locations in the parking areas around the Pavilion and in the Pavilion. Collection barrels will also be available at the South Montgomery County YMCAs during the month of November.

The early registration deadline is November 10. The entry fee includes t-shirt, refreshments and pancake breakfast. All registrations after November 11 will incur a late fee and will not be guaranteed a t-shirt. Registration forms may be mailed to GE Run Thru the Woods, c/o South Montgomery County YMCA, 6145 Shadowbend Place, The Woodlands, TX 77381. Fax Entry forms to 281 367-3659. Please Note those failing to comply with the following race restrictions will be escorted off the course by security.
• No pets allowed at the event or on the course.
• No roller blades, bicycles, strollers or jogging strollers allowed on the 1-mile, 3-mile or 5 mile race courses.
• Strollers and wagons are allowed on the walk course only.

The 1 Mile Children's Race for ages 0-12 registration fees through November 10 are $25. Online registration closes at 11:59pm, on November 22. From November 11 until noon on the 23rd the walk-in fee is $30. Between 6:00-7:00 AM on race day fee is $40.

The 3 Mile Teen's Race for ages 12-17 registration fees through November 10 are $30. Online registration closes at 11:59pm, on November 22. From November 11 until noon on the 23rd the walk-in fee is $35. Between 6:00-7:00 AM on race day the fee is $45.

The 5 Mile Race registration fees through November 10 are $30. Online registration closes at 11:59pm, on November 23. From November 11 until noon on the 23rd the walk-in fee is $35. Between 6:00-7:30 AM on race day the fee is $45.

The 3 Mile Family Walk for all ages registration fees through November 10 are $25. Online registration closes at 11:59pm, on November 22. From November 11 until noon on the 23rd the walk-in fee is $30. Between 6:00-7:45 AM on race day the fee is $35.

Early Registration Packet Pick-Up (for registrations received by November 10th, 2011) is available at the Shadowbend YMCA (6145 Shadowbend Place, The Woodlands 77381) Friday, November 18 from 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM, Saturday, November 19 from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Sunday, November 20 from Noon - 9:00 PM, Monday, November 21 from 5:00 AM - 10:00 PM, Tuesday, November 22 from 5:00 AM - 10:00 PM, and Wednesday, November 23 from 5:00 AM - Noon.

Late Registration Packet Pick Up (for registrations completed after November 10) will be available Race Day morning beginning at 6:00 AM at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

The timing system for scoring the 5 mile run, 1 mile children's race, and 3 mile teen race will be managed by the Champion "D" Timing Tag. Individual race time results are generated by the timing tag which should be attached to one shoe of each runner. As a runner crosses the start / finish lines, the receiver in the mats will pick up a signal from the runner's timing tag and send the time to a computer. Kids will enjoy the competitive 1 Mile Children's Race and teens can run in the 3 Mile Teen Course. The Run Thru the Woods is both a family and a serious running event, the 5 Mile race is USATF certified (#TX07018ETM). If running isn't your thing, there is of course the 3 Mile scenic walk course. There is also the optional Clydesdale division for Men weighing 200 lbs and more and the optional Athena division for Females weighing 145 lbs and more. The age divisions for Males and Females is in 5 year increments for the 5 mile race. Enjoy the complimentary Pancake Breakfast for all race participants provided by The Egg & I on race day morning and the Post Race Party on the Pavilion Plaza.
