Woodlands Recycling

Montgomery County Precinct 3 Recycling & ReUse Facility operates the Precinct 3 Citizen's Collection Facility at 1122 Pruitt Road in Spring. From Wendy's on Sawdust Road, take Budde Road 1.2 miles south to Pruitt. The facility is open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Montgomery County holidays excluded. The following items may be taken to this facility for recycling:
  • Aluminum cans
  • #1 and #2 plastic containers
  • Glass food and beverage containers
  • Cardboard
  • Mixed metal
  • Yard trimmings
  • Residential do-it-yourself home improvement materials
  • Tires
  • Automobile batteries
  • Used motor oil
  • Appliances
  • Bulky non-hazardous items

Some items for recycling at Precinct 3 Citizen's Collection Facility may incur a nominal fee:

Tires

  • Passenger Tires - $2.00 off the rim ----- $7.00 on the rim
  • Truck Tires - $ 7.00 off the rim ----- $14.00 on the rim
  • Off Road Tires - Fee based on size of tire

Electronics

  • TV or Monitor - $10.00 ea CRT ( Cathode Ray Tube )
  • CPU, Table Top Copier, Fax, Scanner, and Printer- $ 5.00 ea
  • Other Electronics - $ 5.00 ea

Latex Paint

  • 0-5 gallons - $5.00 
  • 6-10 gallons - $10.00 
  • Please leave in original container.
  • We do not charge by the number of containers, instead we will determine the amount of product is in each container as we unload it and the quanity to be billed will be determined at that time.

Residential Home Improvement Debris

  • Pick up truck level with the bed - $30.00 - $ 40.00

Trailers:

  • 6 ft - $30.00 to $45.00
  • 8 ft - $40.00 to $ 70.00
  • 12 ft - $40.00 to $115.00
  • 16 ft - $80.00 to $155.00
  • 18 ft - $90.00 to $170.00

In addition to this listing, Household Chemical Waste (including such items as pool chemicals, spray paint, cleansers and pharmaceuticals as well as fluorescent bulbs and more)can be recycled for a nominal fee every Wednesday and the third Saturday of every month, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except County Holidays.

In an effort to re-use as well as recycle, a number of items are available FREE to Montgomery County Residents and Non-Profit Organizations. These items include:

  • Automotive Items
  • Craft Products
  • Garden Products (Herbicides, Pesticides and Fertilizers)
  • Household Cleansers and Solvents
  • Miscellaneous Remodeling Items
  • Paint (Latex, Aerosol and Turpentine)
  • Pool Chemicals

The Community Associations of The Woodlands operate The Woodlands Recycling Center off Research Forest Drive (immediately west of The Woodlands Recreation Center). Drop off hours are Wednesdays 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The following items are accepted:

Aluminum Beverage Cans and Steel "Tin" Cans (soup, pet food, vegetables, etc...) - Cans must be empty and rinsed. Please crush or flatten cans if possible.

Glass Jars and Bottles - Discard lids, empty and rinse out contents. Sort by color (clear and brown only, no green). NOTE: Glass recyclables do not include drinking mugs or glasses; plate glass or window panes, vases or light fixtures.

Paper including white and mixed office paper, magazines, phone books, catalogues, junk mail, brown grocery bags, and envelopes - Remove and discard plastic sleeves. Staples are okay. Separate newspaper from other paper products.

Cardboard items such as corrugated boxes, cracker and cereal boxes, detergent boxes, paper towel and toilet paper rolls - Remove and discard any waxy liners or other paper. Flatten boxes.

Plastic bottles and containers - Discard caps, empty and rinse out contents, then crush and flatten. Examine bottom of container for number code and separate by code as follows:

  • #1 PETE clear plastic (clear soda bottles, some salad dressings, vegetable oils and peanut butter, etc.)
  • #1 PETE colored plastic (7-Up and Sprite bottles, microwave trays, etc.)
  • #2 HDPE natural plastic (milk jugs, creamy white (not blue) water jugs, some vinegar and ammonias)
  • #2 HDPE colored plastic (most laundry and dishwashing products, some shampoos and margarine tubs, baby wipes, etc.)
