The Woodlands Christmas Lighting Ceremony
Start your holiday season at the 34th Annual Lighting of the Doves Festival featuring fireworks, ice carvers, kid's activities, live music, snow, and so much more! Don't miss the magic when Santa arrives! Whether you know him as Kris Kringle, Father Christmas or Saint Nick, no celebration of the season would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus. Accompanied by Mrs. Claus and other visitors from the North Pole, Santa will be on hand at the Lighting of the Doves Festival so little ones can whisper their Christmas wish list. Santa's been known to arrive by parachute, sleigh and will once again make his grand entrance in a dazzling, decorated boat from along The Woodlands Waterway at the Celebration Stage between 7:00 and 7:45, so keep your eyes peeled!
Have you ever wondered how many doves are lit and where the doves are throughout The Woodlands? In addition to the illumination of eight doves (the Lighting of The Doves ceremony), which will be displayed over the Lake Robbins Bridge through the end of the holiday season, there are also three doves at Harper's Landing on Trade Center Boulevard; three doves in the Research Forest on Green Bridge; three doves in Creekside Forest at the roundabout; three doves at Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl as well as three doves at Woodlands Parkway and Terramont; three doves at Kuykendahl and Creekside Green; and of course 12 doves in Town Green Park, for a total of 38 doves throughout The Woodlands.
The Lighting of the Doves Festival is in conjunction with the annual International Winter On The Waterway (iWOW), an international flavored holiday celebration in Town Green Park and along The Waterway. Celebrate the cultural diversity represented in The Woodlands at the annual International Winter On The Waterway (iWOW). The Festival, held at the same time as the Annual Lighting of the Doves, provides attendees an opportunity to learn about the unique holiday traditions from a plethora of countries around the world.
The Lighting of the Doves Festival and iWOW are both on Saturday, November 19 from 3:00 - 9:00 PM. Both festivals are FREE to attend; visitors should be aware that food, beverages, and children's activities vendors sell their wares utilizing tickets, which are available at the Festival. You can access both Festivals via The Waterway or the main entrance of Town Green Park.
10th Annual International Winter on the Waterway (iWoW)
Every year brings new and exciting acts to the stages along The Waterway, as well as old favorites that return season after season. From Irish and Spanish dancers to Scottish bagpipes, a whole spectrum of entertainment is available for enjoyment and interaction Three stages - the Celebration Stage, International Stage and the Festival Stage, run simultaneous entertainment schedules to ensure there's never a dull moment!
Admission to the event is free. Wristband are required ($10) for unlimited use of inflatables, snow play areas and snow slides; these wristbands are not accepted at Bronco Billy's Bucking Bull, where one (1) ride is $5, two (2) rides are $8. The Woodlands Children's Museum craft zones are free. The family photo area featuring a live reindeer is free. Balloon art and face painters are free. Families once again can brighten the holidays for those less fortunate by bringing an unwrapped toy to the 34th Annual Lighting of the Doves and the 10th Annual International Winter On The Waterway (iWOW). Unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the America's ER/Interfaith booth in Town Green Park during both festivals.
FREE parking is available at the Yellow and Orange lots on Timberloch Place.
Attendees will find additional paid parking at the Town Center Parking Garage and the surface lot at Lake Robbins and Six Pines Drive (next to the ice rink). PAID parking will be available at the Town Center Parking Garage on Six Pines Drive, the surface lot at the corner of Lake Robbins Drive and Six Pines Drive (next to the ice rink), 24 Waterway Square Parking Garage, Waterway Square Parking Garage and the surface lot at the corner of Timberloch Place and Waterway Avenue. Handicap parking is available in the South Regional Library lot, just west of Town Green Park on Lake Robbins and the Gold lot (flat lot beside the Town Center Parking Garage).
