Waterway Transportation |
Designed for the residents and visitors to the North Houston Master Planned Community, The Woodlands Waterway turned 5 years old in July 2009. Whether by land or by "sea," there are many ways to get around the Waterway District in The Woodlands Town Center.
Waterway Cruisers
The Waterway Taxis offer an excellent mode of transportation for tourists and locals alike to explore the amenities the area has to offer. The Waterway Cruisers operate seven days a week along the 1.4 mile long Waterway corridor, from mid-morning to early evening hours (see below). The Waterway courses beneath a total of five bridges; Six Pines Drive, Waterway Avenue, Woodloch Forest Drive, Lake Robbins Drive and Mall Ring Road. Passengers can catch a glimpse of “At the Water’s Edge”, a series of mosaics located in niches under the Waterway Avenue Bridge.
Along the north side of the corridor are businesses, restaurants, office buildings and the Waterway Hotel & Convention Center as well as the Pavilion, park-like open green spaces and Waterway Square Park with its beautiful Fountains. On the south shore are both urban residential and office buildings, The Waterway Koi Garden and its adjacent park-like sitting area, along with several natural wooded areas.
The east end of the corridor is anchored by the Woodlands Mall, where the Waterway Cruisers enter the circular turnabout beneath suspended lighting and another beautiful fountain in the piazza, while the west end is anchored by Town Green Park. With various stops including the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and the Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention center, and operating year-round, the Waterway Taxis offer a unique way to take in the scenery in a relaxing experience.
Boarding is at the designated stops every 45 to 60 minutes. A general public day pass with unlimited rides on the cruisers is $5.00. Youth, seniors and the disabled pay half fare. Tickets can be purchased upon boarding. For information call 281-367-1151. |

Waterway Trolleys
In addition to the six (6) Waterway Cruisers, there are two Vintage Style Trolley Cars providing street transportation throughout the shopping and dining areas of Town Center and along the Woodlands Waterway. The two modes of Public Transportation provide the perfect way to explore the multitude of Woodlands Waterway Amenities. The Waterway Trolleys operate seven days a week along a circuitous route that covers a large portion of Town Center, from mid-morning to early evening hours (see below).
The southern portion of the route takes passengers along The Waterway, past the south entrance of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, the patio seating of Tuscany at The Waterway Hotel & Convention Center, up and over Waterway Avenue then continues beyond Waterway Square Park to the Lake Robbins shore of the Anadarko building.
After passing under the suspended bridge of Lake Robbins drive, the Trolleys enter the Woodlands Mall, passing through the beautiful southern piazza.
Heading west, the Trolleys exit the mall area alongside Cinemark Tinsletown 17 Theaters to reach Lake Robbins Drive head over to Market Street. There passengers can enjoy seeing children play in the interactive fountains at Central Park, hop off and get a latte at Starbucks or an ice cream cone at Cold Stone Creamery in The Mews. And operating year-round, the Waterway Trolleys offer a unique way to take in the scenery in a relaxing experience.
Boarding is at the designated stops every 45 to 60 minutes. The Trolleys are free. For information call 281-367-1151. |
