There are a number of activities and events that are sponsored by the Township throughout the year. Unless otherwise noted, all activities and programs are held at the Recreation Center, located adjacent to Bear Branch Park at 5200 Research Forest Drive in Cochran's Crossing. All events and activities presented by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department that require a fee can be paid online at their registration page. Star Gymnastics - Enter your child (age 2 - 5) in gymnastics to develop the fundamentals of performance exercise. This program is developed to train both the mind and body’s physical strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, balance, and grace. Taught by former Division I NCAA Gymnast Alison Sarucci. Meets on Fridays at 10:30 AM, four sessions to choose from: September 3 - 24, October 1 - 22, November 5 - December 3 and December 10 - January 7. *Will not meet November 26 or December 24. FEE: $70 per child.
PERFORMING ARTS DANCE WITH CAROLINE BATSON
Baby Ballet - Toddlers ages 2 and 3 will learn great pre-ballet technique and politeness while enhancing your child’s imagination. Pink ballet slippers pink tights and black or pink leotard required. Tutus are okay! Sessions held on Thursdays at 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM, September - December. Let Caroline Batson, degreed professional dancer of thirty years, give your little one a taste of ballet, creative movement and good discipline. FEE: $50 per child per month.
Ballet & Tap - Preschool class designed to introduce your child (age 3 1/2 - 5) to dance! Plies, skipping, shuffles and a performance for the whole family to enjoy! Build your child’s self confidence and love for the arts. Black leotard, pink tights pink ballet slippers and tan tap shoes required; children can wear any tutu they like! Classes are held Thursdays at 11:00 AM, September - December. FEE: $75 per month per child. Join either class anytime.

Play Ball - Informal introduction to ball and motor skills including soccer, hockey, tennis, volleyball, basketball and baseball for kids ages 2 - 4. Half-hour classes run September 20 - November 22 on Mondays, 2-year-olds at 10:30, 3-year-olds at 11:00 and 4-year-olds at 11:30. FEE: $140 per child for residents, $150 per child for non-residents, plus $20 one-time registration fee.
Hot Shots - Dribble, shoot, score! This program for kids ages 4 - 5 includes basic basketball skills, such as shooting, dribbling, passing and teamwork. 40-minute classes on Saturdays, two sessions to choose from: September 11 - October 2 and November 6 - December 4 (No class held week of November 27). FEE: $45 per child for residents, $50 for non-residents.
Sports of All Sorts - What better way to find out what your child wants to play! Little athletes ages 3 - 5 will love getting a taste of basketball, soccer, playing catch, and working as a team! There will be a few surprises in store, too! Classes meet on Thursdays from 9:30 - 10:15 AM, choose your session: September 9 - October 14 or October 21 - December 2. No class Thursday, November 25. FEE: $65 per child for residents, $70 per child for non-residents.

The Park Pack - Children ages 2 - 5 can make new friends or meet old pals! The “Park Pack” will meet for six dates at a new park each playtime. Use squirt guns, hula hoops, beach balls, sand toys and more; snack and a craft are included. The Park Pack will meet on Tuesdays at 9:30 AM beginning August 17 at The Fountains at Waterway Square. Follow-up sessions are September 7 at Tupelo Park, September 21 at Terramont Park, October 5 at Town Green Park, October 19 at The Lodge at Rob Fleming Park and November 9 at Bear Branch Park. FEE: $60 per child.

Mommy & Me Twinkle Toes - Dance Club 4 Kidz - A special mother-daughter dance class that gives children and moms a musical dancing experience. The class incorporates creative movement, ballet, tap and tumbling. This one of a kind class for the tiniest ballerinas offers an exciting musical and dancing experience. Mommy & Me Twinkle Toes is for children aged 2 and 3 as of September 1, 2010. There are special tea parties and dress up days each month included. Fridays at 9:30 AM, starting September 3. Parent participation is required. Fee: $60 per month per child for residents, $65 for non-residents.
Dance Club 4 Kidz - Unique and creative dance classes designed for girls ages 3 - 4 as of September 1, 2010 with a treasure chest full of props, children will be singing and dancing to non-traditional dance music. All of the music encourages singing and having fun while dancing to learn. Ballet and tap dancing stories promote acting out stories to music, adding the elements of dance your child loves! Classes will include a dress up days, tea parties, and an in-house family showcase day in December. Classes are divided by age and are held each Monday starting September 13, 9:30 - 10:30 AM for 3-year-olds, 10:30 - 11:30 AM for 4-year olds, Tuesdays starting September 7, 9:30 - 10:30 AM for 3-year-olds, 10:30 - 11:30 AM for 4-year olds and Wednesdays, starting September 8, 9:30 - 10:30 AM for 4-year-olds, 10:30 - 11:30 AM for 3-year olds. Fee: $65 per month per child for residents, $75 for non-residents.
Dance Club 4 Kidz is a progressive curriculum for children aged two to nine. Currently enrolled studends may hold their space until the 20th of each month by paying for the upcoming month; after the 20th, enrollment is open to new students. Registration fee is $25. Jazzy Jems and Junior Jems - Have your little “Jem” learn to dance the fun way with jazz, ballet and tap! This class will also include more progressive tumbling. They will learn how to count music, song and dance routines, technique, rhythm and style. Through the use of barré, props, center, dance stories and floor progressions, dancers will learn positioning, footwork, combinations, leaps and turns. Class includes dress up days, tea parties and a family dance day in December. Dancers will learn song and dance routines to showcase in lieu of a recital. Ages: Jazzy Jems: 7 - 9 years (entering second or third grade), Junior Jems: 5 - 6 years (entering kindergarten). Jazzy Jems sessions: Mondays at 5:30 PM, starting September 13; Junior Jems sessions Mondays at Noon, starting September 13, Fridays at 10:30 AM starting September 10. FEES: Jazzy Jems: $80 per month for residents, $90 per month for non-residents; Junior Jems: $65 per month for residents, $75 per month for non-residents.

Little Artist Series - Have a talented toddler on your hands? Each week “Little Artists” will get their hands and their clothes messy, plus leave each class with a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The Little Artist Series is for children ages 3 - 6 and parent participation is required! Activities will be different than previous Little Artist Series. Classes held Wednesdays, September 1 - October 6 at 10:00 AM and Wednesdays, Novenber 3 - December 15. *No class held
on November 24. FEE: $60 per child.

Building Brains - Lego® Class - Children ages 3 - 6 will use LEGO® Duplo and K’NEX educational kits to build math and science skills. These educational building kits have specially-designed gears, levers and pulleys that teach students to build simple machines that really work! Classes taught by instructor Kim Koenig. More information: 713 204-0770. Readiness - Pre-K sessions on Mondays, September 13 - December 6 at 1:00 PM. Kindergarten sessions on Tuesdays, September 7 - December 7 at 4:30 PM. FEE: $350 per child.
Preschool Meet, Greet and Play - Are your children tired of playing at home with the same ol’ things? Let your kids have fun with the recreation center's toys and equipment, and get some adult conversation for yourself! Preschool Meet, Greet and play is for toddlers aged from Crawling to Preschool and parent participation is required! Sessions held on Wednesdays, September 1 - October 6 at 10:30 AM. FEE: $1 per child per day.

Little Photographers: two-day series - Bring your little photographer to take photos at the parks, then print photos and make them into a themed collage to bring home! Participants need to bring a digital camera with a memory stick. Ages: 3 - 5. First day session themed "Water, Water, Everywhere!" is Monday, September 20 at Waterway Square, second day session themed "Boats and Outdoor Fun!" is Monday, September 27 at the Riva Row Boat House. Both sessions begin at 10:00 AM. FEE: $30 per child.

Tiny Tots Golf -This class will teach children ages 3 - 5 golf concepts vital to the swing and making good contact with the ball. Tiny Tots Golf is a great opportunity to expose your youngster to golf. All equipment provided. Parent participation required. Classes held on Tuesdays September 7 - 28 and Thursdays October 5 - 26, 9:00 - 9:45 AM. Fee: $80 per child for residents, $90 for non-residents, plus $15 supply fee.

Soccer 4 Tots - Your child will get a “kick” out of this program! Classes for 3-year-olds from 9:50 - 10:30 AM and 4 & 5 year-olds from 10:40 - 11:20 AM on Saturdays at the Recreation Center. Participants will learn how to pass, dribble, trap and shoot the ball; short-sided games will be
played. Parent participation is required and shin guards are mandatory. Select from two sessions; September 11 - October 2 and November 6 - December 4 (no class held the week of November 27). Fee: $45 Resident, $50 Non-resident.
Fury Mini-Sluggers - Held on Tuesdays, from 4:00 - 5:00 PM at the Alden Bridge Sports Park, Little sluggers ages 4 - 6 will learn the fundamentals of T-ball including catching, throwing and running the bases. Participants must bring their own mitt. Select from two sessions September 14 - October 5 or October 19 - November 9.
Fee: $55 for residents, $65 for non-residents. Alden Bridge Sports Park is located at 4751 West College Park Drive (SH 242) in Alden Bridge.

Tennis Tikes - Children ages 4 - 5 will play a variety of games and drills that focus primarily on hand-eye coordination. Skills will be taught with an emphasis on tennis. All participants must bring their own racquet. All classes held at the Recreation Center on Mondays at 10:30 AM. Choose from three sessions: September 20 - October 11, October 18 - November 8 and November 15 - December 6. FEE: $45 per child for residents, $50 per child for non-residents.
Tyke Hike - A hike at the George Mitchell Trailhead across from Rob Fleming Park specially designed for your little tyke ages 3 - 6! Special surprises and a scavenger hunt of items to collect along the way will keep your little
one interested and ready for more! A snack is provided at the end of the quarter-mile hike. Parent participation is required! Monday, September 27 and/or Thursday, October 21 at 9:30 AM. FEE: $12 per child.
Goblins, Ghosts & Goodies - Join in with other parents and toddlers on Tuesday, October 26 at 10:00 AM for spooktacular fun at the Recreation Center! Little goblins ages 2 - 5 will celebrate Halloween by playing a ghoulish game, making a ghost and enjoying a terrifying treat. Parent participation is required. FEE: $12 per child, $7 each additional sibling.
Gobble 'Til You Wobble - Bring your little turkey (ages 2 - 5)out for some fall fun at the Recreation Center! Tots will make a Thanksgiving turkey and trot through the park. Parent participation is required. Thursday, November 18 from 10:00 - 10:45. Fee: $12 per child, $7 each additional sibling.
The Little Gingerbread Man - Little decorators ages 2 - 5 (parent participation required) will build a mini gingerbread house, read a holiday book and decorate a gingerbread man! Tuesday, December 14 from 10:00 - 10:45 at the Recreation Center. Fee: $12 per child, $7 each additional sibling.
Flurries and Flakes - Snowmen, snowflakes, and “snow” much fun to be had at the Recreation Center! Parent participation is required. Ages: 2 - 5. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 10:00 - 10:45 AM. FEE: $12 per child, $7 each additional sibling.
